Non-League Day live results and updates (2025)

With the Premier League and Championship taking a pause due to March's international break, non-league football is grasping centre stage this afternoon.

There are no matches in the top two tiers of English football this weekend, and although several fixtures remain in League One and League Two, some have been called off due to international call-ups.

The same cannot be said about the non-league pyramid, however, with most divisions from the National League down having a full scheduled fixture list ahead of this season's Non-League Day.

Non-League Day is an annual event which celebrates semi-professional and grassroots football in the UK and it has been running for the past couple of years. Fans across the nation are expected to flock to their local - or even further afar - team to get their football fix with no Premier League or Championship action.

Barnet take advantage of York City defeat to extend lead

Barnet's 1-0 away win against Altrincham has extended The Bees' lead at the top of the National League to 14 points.

The London based club made the most of second place York City's defeat at Braintree town to further close in on a promotion to League Two.

Barnet were last in the Football League in 2018. They are a familiar face in League Two but have struggled to return since their last relegation. As long as The Bee's dont severely mess up, the National League title should be theirs after being runners-up last season to Chesterfield.

Why is Non-League Day so important?

Non-League Day 2025!

Non-League Day is an opportunity for football fans to show support to their local club. It helps non-league clubs gain crucial funds and a platform to build from.

The event is supported by the Premier League and various Football League clubs as well as media organisations, MP's and chartities such as Prostate Cancer UK.

The event is always scheduled during an international break when Premier League football is not on and aims to highlight the importance of the English football pyramid.

Faversham Town dominate to take league lead

Faversham's 5-0 thrashing over Holmesdale has pushed the Kent based club to the top of the Southern Counties East League Premier Division.

Second place VCD Atheltic, who started the day in first position, could only grab a point in their 2-2 draw against Punjab United.

The gap is still only one point between the top two sides, but Faversham Town have the benefit of a game in hand. Both clubs have run away from the rest of the league with the buffer to third place worth 13 points.

Fight for Southern League -Premier Central title takes another turn

The top four sides in the Southern League - Premier Central are seperated by just two points.

At the start of the day, Kettering Town topped the table with 64 points. Halesowen Town, Bedford Town and AFC Telford United all followed with 63 points each.

90 minutes later, Halesowen have not taken the top spot with Bedford close in second with 66 points for both clubs. Kettering follow in third and Telford in fourth after the two sides faced each other this afternoon in a match that ended 1-1.

With six games left to play until the end of the season, it's impossible to call who will take the title.

Non-League Day live results and updates (2)

Quorn FC, the football club representing the village of Quorn in Leicestershire with a population of just over 5000, have dominated the Northern Premier League Midlands Division and earned themselves promotion to Step 3 football next season.

The Methodists, who play on a 3G pitch at their Farkley Way Stadium, have only lost once this season and have created an impressive 22 point gap to second place.

Their 3-0 victory over Willingborough Town this afternoon secured their promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Macclesfield FC secure promotion into National League North

Macclesfield's 2-1 victory over Bamber Bridge was all Robbie Savage's side needed to secure themsleves promotion to the National League North next season.

It is an impressive moment for Savage who is in his first year as head coach at Macclesfield, a club who's original assoication, Macclesfield Town, went into liquidation in 2020.

The Silkmen have a 20 point gap to second place Worksop. They have only lost three times all season and have scored an impressive 88 goals across the campaign.

Stories from around the leagues

National League - Out of the six clubs in promotion qualifcation positions, it was only Oldham Athletic who picked up a win as they beat FC Halifax Town 1-0. League leaders Barnet are away at Altrincham at 5:30pm.

National League North - Scunthorpe United took victory over Chester to maintain their gap at the top of the table, but chasers Brackley Town and Kidderminster Harriers both secured victories too. At the other end of the table, Oxford City thrashed Warrington Town 4-0 to extend their buffer to the relegation zone.

National League South - League leaders Worthing endured a shocking defeat at relegation-threatened Welling United. Maidstone United's 3-0 victory over Hampton & Richmond Borough has created a four point gap between themselves in seventh and play-off chasing Weston-super-Mare in eighth who could only take a point against Chesham United.

League leaders Worthing losing to relegation threatened Welling United

41 points currently seperate National League South leaders Worthing to 22nd place and relegation-facing side Welling United.

Despite this, the underdogs currently lead Worthing 1-0 at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium.

If the result stays the same, The Rebels will still be top of the table with a one point lead and a game in hand. However, close followers Truro City, Eastbourne Borough and Dorking Wanderers will all be licking their lips.

Oxford City leading in pivotal relegation match

Oxford City are currently leading relegation threatened Warrington Town in the National League North.

City, nicknamed 'The Hoops,' sit one place above the relegation zone in 20th. A goal from Jayden Carbon, and an unfortunate own goal from Warrington's Peter Clarke, have given Oxford a comfortable 2-0 lead just over 50 minutes into the match.

With 21st place Needham Market currently losing 1-0 to Kidderminster Harriers, Oxford could end today with a six point gap to the drop-zone.

Scunthorpe United score crucial promotion goal

Callum Roberts has given Scunthorpe United the lead over Chester FC from close range - a massive goal for the National League North leaders.

The Iron are hoping to climb their way back to the Football League after being relegated from League Two in 2022. They currently sit top of the table above Brackley Town who are four points behind as of right now with a game in hand.

Chester are also hoping to gain promotion this season. They are fourth at the moment, a promotion qualifcation spot.

Benfleet FC sees attendance rocket

Benfleet FC was the home of the Premier League trophy for Non-League Day. Fans of the club were able to take photos with the prestigious trophy before their 12:00 kick-off.

The Essex Senior League side had an incredible attendance of 702 in their lunchtime match against Clacton FC. This trumps the average attendace of 185 at the Woodside Stadium and is a great showing of what a difference Non-League Day makes.

Non-League Day kicked off with late equaliser

Before all the 3:00pm kick-offs got underway on Non-League Day, Sutton United took on Dagenham & Redbridge at the VBS Community Stadium at lunchtime.

It was a dramatic start to the enthralling day of football as Dagenham's National League survival hopes took a big hit as Sutton's Will Davies scored a 92nd minute equaliser to level the score 1-1.

The Daggers will feel they should have won the game after a penalty awarded within the opening 30 seconds was saved by Sutton United goalkeepr Jack Sims.

It was a perfect opener to an energetic day of football.

Leroy Lita still scoring aged 40

After scoring for Middlesbrough, Reading and Swansea City, moving to Greece and Thailand before returning to England, Leroy Lita is still among the goals over 23 years since his professional debut.

The 40-year-old scored goals for fun during his professional career but he’s now a regular in non-league. Currently at Leicester-based Barwell FC, the striker is at his ninth non-league team and is loving every minute of it.

Last weekend, he rolled back the years to put Barwell 4-2 up against Leiston in the Southern League Central. Beating the offside trap after Barwell won the ball high up the pitch, the veteran was too fast for two defenders and he slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

"I still feel fine, I enjoy playing and I'm still healthy and fit," he told LeicestershireLive. "I don't have to train everyday, which is different to the professional world but I'm still playing every week. That's enough for me.

"I really enjoy playing football and it fits with everything I do. I’ve met some great people along the way. It’s different but I enjoy it."

Vegan football club to build new stadium

Newark and Sherwood United, a step five football club in Nottinghamshire who play in the United Counties League Premier Division North have designed their new home - with plans showing it will be made from 66 repurposed shipping containers.

The club has embraced an environmentally friendly identity as a plant-powered, eco-conscious organisation since being taken over a few years ago by owner Steff Wright - who owns construction company Gusto.

Currently ground sharing with competitors Harrowby United - the team were sharing Station Road at Collingham after becoming homeless from their old ground. The Highwaymen as they are known had previously occupied the Lowfields Ground in Balderton from 1901 to 2021, when the land was sold for development.

A 3D model of the potential new 500-seater stadium was unveiled for players, coaches, and fans to view before a recent match. The build is expected to be constructed on Yorke Drive, Newark and it is anticipated that it will cost around £1.5m.

The stadium is planned to have enclosed stands, a bar and sponsors area - with balconies overlooking the 3G pitch. Changing rooms and facilities, with a training pitch adjacent will also be included in the project which will have a capacity for 500 fans to watch games on the site. The design also include plans for a community kitchen, boxing gym and flood lights for night matches.

The club's sustainability efforts extend further. They've participated in Green Football Weekend - raising awareness about climate change's impact on football. Additionally, they're trialling a reusable cup system with Recirculate Systems, which is set to be implemented in larger stadiums across the country.

Step 5 and below

Dropping further down the pyramid and into Step 5, the ninth tier of English football, and there are a number of divisions that run at this level, including the Midland Football League, United Counties League and North West Counties League.

Meanwhile, Step 6, the tenth tier, is the last level that is classed as semi-professional before moving into amateur football. Nuneaton Town are the biggest hitters at that level.

Kieran King

Step 4 action

Looking at Step 4, the eighth tier of English football, there are EIGHT divisions at this level with several teams eyeing promotion and facing the prospect of relegation this afternoon.

Northern Premier League East, Northern Premier League West, Northern Premier League Midlands, Isthmian League North, Isthmian League South Central, Isthmian League South East, Southern League Central and Southern League South are the divisions on offer.

Cleethorpes Town, Widnes, Quorn, Brentwood Town, Farnham Town, Ramsgate, Real Bedford and Yate Town are the teams that lead up those eight divisions, with some hoping to secure promotion this weekend.

Macclesfield promotion push

Macclesfield can win promotion to the National League North on Saturday. Robbie Savage's side have dominated the Northern Premier League, the seventh-tier of English football, this season and have the chance to go up this afternoon.

If Macclesfield beat Bamber Bridge they will win promotion regardless of second-place Worksop Town's result against Warrington Rylands.

If Macclesfield draw or lose and Worksop Town draw or lose, they will be promoted.

However, Macclesfield won't be promoted if they draw or lose and Worksop Town win.

Step 3 action

Down to Step 3 of the non-league pyramid and there is a number of fixtures set to be played at this level of English football.

The Northern Premier League, Southern League Premier Central, Southern League Premier South and Isthmian League Premier are the four divisions in the seventh tier.

The likes of Macclesfield, Kettering Town, Billericay Town and Merthyr Town lead up that level of football.

Farsley Celtic chaos

The last 12 months have been a challenge for Farsley Celtic supporters. The club, who play in the National League North - the sixth tier, haven't played a game at their home ground, the Citadel, since the final day of last season and have been using Buxton's Silverlands Stadium instead.

Delays in the installation of a brand new 4G pitch have resulted in Leeds-based Farsley having to find a new home for the 2024/25 season after playing the first eight matches away.

The distance between Farsley's Citadel and Silverlands in Buxton is around 70 miles and two hours via car. It's much longer when you consider public transport, making it difficult for fans and people associated to attend matches.

They have seen attendances drop by 150 percent compared to last season, with an average of 206—the worst in the National League North—through the gate compared to 668 in 2023/24.

In addition, the Celts launched a crowdfunding campaign last month to raise cash to keep the club running. They have so far raised around £13,895, just over half of their £25,000 target.

Scunthorpe United are set to smash the National League normal game attendance record, with a sell-out crowd expected.

They face Chester at the Atiss Arena with over 8,200 fans anticipated, breaking the National League normal game record.

It's a staggering amount of fans for the sixth tier of English football - but it once again shows the strength of the pyramid.

Solihull Moors offer

Solihull Moors are marking Non-League Day on Saturday, March 22, by offering discounted entry prices to season ticket holders of other West Midlands clubs for their home match against Yeovil Town at 3pm.

Aston Villa, Coventry City, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers are not in action this weekend, with the Premier League and Championship on pause.

Birmingham City also postponed their scheduled League One fixture against Stevenage due to international call-ups.

Therefore, with Walsall away to Gillingham and Rushall Olympic on the road at Darlington in the National League North, the Moors are the only West Midlands club playing at home across the top six tiers on Saturday.

As such, any Albion, Blues, Sadlers, Sky Blues, Villa and Wolves season ticket holders can head to Solihull to see them host Yeovil Town at Damson Park for a fiver.

Showing your valid season ticket at the box office on the day is how to qualify for the discounted price and save £16 on the standard cost of an adult ticket.

For non-season ticket holders, adult tickets are £21. Anyone over 65 or 18-24 qualifies for the concessions price, which is £17, while under-18s pay £9, and admission for under-12s is free.
